Tiivistelmä
Tämä kandidaatintutkielma käsittelee asiantuntijaorganisaatioiden tilinpäätöstietojen analysointia taloudellisen kilpailija-analyysin tekniikoita hyödyntäen. Tutkielman tavoitteena oli selvittää, miten kuudessa asiantuntijaorganisaatiossa on pyritty parantamaan tai säilyttämään saavutettu markkina-asema vuosina 2011–2014. Tutkimusmuotona käytettiin tilinpäätösanalyysia. Tutkielma on case-yrityksen toimeksiannosta toteutettu taloudellinen kilpailija-analyysi.
Tutkimuksen teoriaosa käsittelee taloudellista kilpailija-analyysia osana strategista johdonlaskentatoimea.
This bachelor’s thesis discusses about financial statement analysis of expert organizations by the means of competitor-focused accounting techniques. The aim of this study was to observe how six expert organizations have tried to increase or maintain their market position in the years 2011-2014. The key approach used in this study was financial statement analysis. The thesis was an assignment of financial competitor analysis for anonym case-company.
The theory part of this study concerns theory of competitor-focused accounting techniques in strategic management accounting. The theoretic framework was based on financial competitor analysis techniques and the empirical studies involved. The empirical part of this study consisted of three parts. The two first parts aimed at sorting companies from a higher amount of competitors defined by the case-company. The sorting of the companies was done by using few financial characteristics. The core of the empirical was the third part, a financial competitor analysis of six companies. Based on the theory three point of views for the analysis were chosen: cost structure, competitive position and financial statement information. The time period of the study was interesting, because it included various trends. Between the years 2011-2013, the trend of incomes was decreasing, but in the year 2014 the trend was increasing.
The conclusions had two characteristics which stood out: growth and profitability. It was seen that the companies which had a wide base of earnings and flexible cost structure, were the ones to succeed the best from the decrease of incomes. Those who maintained their profitability the best made lots of savings in the personnel costs. Personnel costs consisted the most of the cost structure of all companies. Those companies who had the best financial solidity didn’t make rapid cuts in their cost structure. They withstood longer the bad profitability than the others. In the future more studies about the financial profitability of these companies should be done.
