Hybridikomposiittien hyödyntäminen tuulivoimalan rakenteissa
Sallinen, Ville (2012)
Hybridikomposiittien lujuusominaisuuksia tutkittiin Lappeenrannan teknillisen yliopiston puutekniikan laboratoriossa suoritetuissa mittauksissa. The purpose of the thesis was to investigate the suitability of hybrid composites in wind turbine structures, components and sub-assemblies. The main task was to find out how the properties of natural-fiber composites, especially the strength properties could be exploited in wind turbines.
The introduction section presents the role of wind power in today’s energy production, parts of an individual wind turbine, structure design related matters and the most common manufacturing processes of wind turbine blades, tower and nacelle. The plastics, rein-forcements and the wood-plastic composites and their manufacturing processes are also introduced.
The strength properties of hybrid composites were studied and measured in the laboratory of wood technology, in Lappeenranta University of Technology. The results are then com-pared with the reference results, but also now widely used wind turbine materials such as glass and carbon fiber, as well as the properties of steel. The study has shown that the bamboo and glass fiber reinforced (hybrid) wood-plastic composites are best suited for wind turbine structures, but their manufacture with extrusion is quite a challenge.
