Tiivistelmä
Tuotekehitys on yhä tärkeämpi osa yritysten liiketoimintaa ja onnistuessaan se luo mahdollisuuden pysyä yhä kiihtyvillä globaaleilla markkinoilla mukana pidempään. Tuotteiden elinkaarten lyhentyessä on pyrittävä kehittämään jo olemassa olevia tuotteita paremmiksi ja asiakkaiden tarpeita mahdollisimman hyvin vastaaviksi.
Yritysten pyrkiessä menestyksekkääseen tuotekehitykseen on avuksi tarjolla useita erilaisia menetelmiä tai niiden yhdistelmiä. Tämän tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli tutkia Quality Function Deployment (QFD) ja Theory of Inventive Problem Solving (TIPS/TRIZ) menetelmien teorioita sekä niiden yhdistämisellä saavutettavia hyötyjä tuotekehityksessä.
Teoriaosuuden pohjalta rakennettiin suomalaisille teollisuusyrityksille suunnattu survey-haastattelukyselytutkimus, jolla pyrittiin kartoittamaan minkälaisia erilaisia innovaatiokäytäntöjä yrityksillä on käytössä.
Product development is an increasingly important part of business and, if successful, it will create the opportunity to keep up with the fast paced global market for longer period of time. As product lifecycles shorten, companies must develop their existing products and make them more equivalent to customer needs.
There are several different methods and method-combinations to support the product development process. The aim of this study was to research the theory of Quality Function Deployment (QFD) and Theory of Inventive Problem Solving (TIPS / TRIZ) methods and try to find ways to combine them for better results in product development.
On the basis of the theoretical part was built a survey aimed at Finnish industrial companies to identify the different types of innovation practices they are using. An important part of the query was related to the use of TRIZ and was made to find out how well-known method is and how commonly it is used in Finnish industrial companies.
The results show that although both methods presented at this thesis may at first seem challenging and resource-consuming, can achieve successful outcomes especially when combined. According to studies presented at thesis, in particular the methods of integrating QFD and TRIZ can help to bring the best features from both methods to support each other. On the basis of the survey results TRIZ method seems to be still a relatively unknown in Finland, but its introduction will surely be more common in the future.
