Tiivistelmä
The aim of this master’s thesis was to understand, explore and analyze the User Experience
(UX) of interacting with an online media platform with the holistic angle. In order to achieve
the target, the UX of a case online magazine website was studied. The main research question was formulated as follows: How can the user experience exploration benefit online magazine development?
The theoretical part of the study focused on the nature of UX, its dimensions and components, and its connection with design process. The empirical part of the master’s thesis is a single qualitative case study. Two rounds of experiments were conducted among the representatives of the target audience of the online magazine, which resulted in 27 UX reflection sessions.
The results of the study indicated that UX can be explored with three dimensions: perceived
usability, affect (and emotion and aesthetics) and user value. The results of the study have
proven to become beneficial for further design and iterations.
The thesis contributes to the understanding of user experience in the context of online magazine website, while giving practical implications of designing for UX.
