Tiivistelmä
Muuttuvat asiakastottumukset ovat muuttaneet yrityksien toimintaympäristöä kasvattaen toimitusketjuihin kohdistuvia nopeus- ja kustannustehokkuusvaatimuksia. Näistä muutoksista johtuen tilausohjautuvaan tuotantoon keskittyneet yritykset haluavat ohjata toimitusketjuja yhtä tehokkaasti kuin varasto-ohjautuvaan tuotantoon keskittyneet yritykset.
Tutkimuksen tavoitteena on löytää keinot, joilla parannetaan tuotteen materiaalihallintaa epävarmassa toimintaympäristössä. Tutkimuksessa etsitään tilausohjautuvalle toimitusketjulle ohjausmenetelmiä, joilla voidaan ennakoida tuleva kysyntä sekä tasata kysyntäpiikkejä. Tutkimus toteutettiin tapaustutkimuksena. Kokonaiskuvan hahmottamiseksi historiadataa tuettiin haastatteluilla.
Tutkimuksesta nousi kolme teemaa, joiden kehittämisellä on positiivinen vaikutus toimitusketjun suorituskykyyn. Nämä ovat vaihtelun pienentäminen vakio-tuotteille soveltuvalla tuotantomuodolla, loppuasiakkaan kysyntäennusteen tehokkaampi hyödyntäminen ja yhteistyön lisääminen eri funktioiden välille. Tutkimuksessa luotu ohjaustyökalu auttaa tilausohjautuvia yrityksiä hahmottamaan toimitusketjujen kokonaisuutta ja tunnistamaan kehityskohteet. Changing customer requirements have changed the environment of businesses by increasing supply chain’s speed and cost efficiency requirements. Due to these, the Make-To-Order companies want to manage the supply chains as efficiently as the Make-To-Stock companies.
The aim of the research is to find the ways to improve materials control in an uncertain environment. The study seeks methods for the Make-To-Order supply chain to forecast the future demand and balance the demand peaks. To capture the overall picture, the historical record was supported by interviews.
Three themes emerged from the research, whose development has a positive impact on supply chain performance. These are the reduction of variation using suitable manufacturing situation, more efficient utilization of the end customer's demand forecast and the amount of cross-function’s co-operation. The created supply chain tool helps Make-To-Order companies to manage and integrate the supply chain and identify potential development targets.
