This thesis contains an overview of the most common working principles of high frequency fatigue test systems. Emphasis was to study the most common uses for each working principle of the fatigue test systems. High frequency fatigue testing system principles that were studied were servo hydraulic, high frequency, pulsator, eccentric mass oscillation and linear motor. A research of the available commercial fatigue testing systems was also conducted. The goal of the research was to find testing systems matching capacity requirements set by LUT’s Laboratory of Steel Structures. Two high frequency fatigue test system manufacturers, Zwick Roell and RUMUL, was found to manufacture fatigue test systems that match these requirements. It was suggested that more research and continued cooperation with the manufacturers should be done to acquire more precise data on each manufacturer’s fatigue test systems.
