Tiivistelmä
Tämän työn päätavoitteina oli selvittää öljyn käytön nykytilanne rakennusten lämmityksessä Etelä-Savossa sekä tarkastella öljylämmityksen korvaamisen kannattavuutta tapaustarkastelun kohteina olleille omakotitalolle ja koulurakennukselle. Työssä tarkastellut uusiutuvat lämmitysjärjestelmät olivat pellettilämmitys, hakelämmitys ja maalämpöpumppu.
Öljylämmitteisten rakennusten tarkkaa määrää on vaikea selvittää yksityishenkilöiden tietosuojan takia.
The main objectives of this thesis were to analyse the status of oil heating in South Savo and to study the profitability of replacing oil heating with renewable alternatives. The two studied cases were a single-family home and a school building. The examined renewable heating systems in this thesis were pellet heating, wood chip heating and a ground source heat pump.
It is difficult to estimate the actual number of oil-heated buildings in South Savo due to privacy laws. However, it is clear that residential buildings, especially single-family homes, form the largest group of oil heated buildings. The number of oil heated single-family homes has also decreased relatively slowly.
In the case of the examined single-family home, it was found that only wood pellet heating would be profitable. The ground source heat pump was profitable if the available subsidies and the replacement of the oil heating equipment were taken into consideration. The offered wood chip heating container was too large for the examined house and thus, not profitable. However, a wood chip boiler could be profitable if the existing boiler room is utilised, especially taking into account the available subsidies and the replacement of the oil heating equipment.
In the case of the school building, wood chip heating was the most profitable option followed by pellet heating. All three renewable heating options were markedly profitable, however, even when the price of light fuel oil was assumed to decrease annually. Significant greenhouse gas emission reductions can be achieved by switching from oil heating to a renewable heating system.
The results indicate that the larger the building, the more profitable the renewable heating systems are. Subsidies and other support measures have great importance in replacing oil heating systems since only the pellet heating system was clearly profitable in the case of the single-family home. Different support measures are especially important considering that ground source heat pumps, which were only profitable with subsidies, have been much more popular than the other renewable options. The popularity of ground source heat pumps despite the higher costs also indicates that other factors may be more important than costs in heating system selection.
