Tiivistelmä
Tämän tutkielman tarkoituksena on tutkia vastuullisten pörssiyhtiöiden osakkeiden menestystä Pohjoismaissa markkinaindeksiin verraten vuosina 2016–2021. Lisäksi tutkielman tarkoituksena on selvittää, onko Pohjoismaiden vastuullisten portfolioiden menestyksen välillä nähtävissä eroavaisuuksia.
Tutkimuksen empiriaosuus toteutetaan kvantitatiivisella tutkimusmenetelmällä. Tutkimuksessa luotiin kolme osakeportfoliota korkeiden ESG-pisteytyksien perusteella. Osakeportfoliot jaoteltiin maantieteellisen sijainnin perusteella Oslon, Helsingin sekä Tukholman pörssin osakkeisiin. Vertailuindeksinä käytettiin OMX Nordic 120 -indeksiä. Aineisto haettiin Refinitivin Eikon-tietokannasta. Aikaperiodiksi portfolioiden tutkimiseen valikoitui 2016–2021.
The aim of this thesis is to examine the success of the shares of responsible listed companies in the Nordic countries compared to the market index in 2016-2021. In addition, the purpose of the dissertation is to find out whether there are any differences between the Nordic countries portfolios relative to the market index.
The empirical part is carried out using a quantitative research method. In this thesis, three equity portfolios were created based on high ESG scores. The portfolios were divided into the Oslo, Helsinki and Stockholm stock exchanges based on geographical location. The OMX Nordic 120 index was used as a benchmark. The material was retrieved from Refinitiv Eikon's database. The time period for portfolio research was selected from 2016 to 2021. Returns, volatility, Sharpe's ratio, Treynor's ratio, and Jensen's alpha were used to measure the success of equity portfolios.
The results showed that the portfolios of the Helsinki, Stockholm and Oslo stock exchanges outperformed the OMX Nordic 120 index on average. On average, the portfolio of the Helsinki Stock Exchange performed best, while the results of the portfolio of the Oslo Stock Exchange were the weakest.
