Tutkielma toteutettiin laadullisena tutkimuksena, jossa perehdyttiin yhden case-yhtiön kassavirran hallintaan liittyviin prosesseihin.
Financial shocks and situations challenging the solvency of companies have been quite common recently. While not in themselves new, the challenges are said to be increasingly serious due to, among other things, globalization, the political atmosphere, and technological developments. In addition, cash flow management and forecasting are perceived as one of the most important functions in companies, especially in terms of financial survival.
The aim of this thesis was to find out how cash flow management and forecasting could be developed. Thus, the theoretical framework of the thesis focused on cash flow management, working capital management and cash flow forecasting. Together, these elements formed a liquidity-related issue. The focus of the thesis was on how a company's operating cash flows can be influenced from the perspective of cash flow management, especially by developing the company's internal factors.
The thesis was carried out as a qualitative study, in which the cash flow management processes of one case company were examined. It was therefore a case study. The research material was collected mainly through thematic interviews and the interviewees consisted of nine people who worked in the case company in financial administration and management positions. The interview questions were sent by email.
Based on the results of the thesis, many significant factors and processes could be identified that have a particular impact on the cash flow challenges of the case company. The analysis of these factors and processes made it possible to compile the most significant development targets for improving the cash flow management and forecasting.
