Tutkielma koostuu kahdesta kokonaisuudesta. Ensimmäinen kokonaisuus tutkielmassa on kirjallisuuskatsaus. Toisena kokonaisuutena tutkielmassa on empiriaosia, joka suoritettiin kvantitatiivisena tutkimuksena.
Tutkimustulokset viittaavat, että käyttämällä klusterointimenetelmää Lontoon osakemarkkinoilla on pystynyt löytämään arvoanomalian tarkastellulla aikavälillä. Vertailtaessa kuudella eri klusterimäärällä luotuja arvoportfolioita, vain yksi luoduista portfolioista hävisi tuotolla mitattuna FTSE 100 Total Return- indeksille. This thesis examines whether it has been possible to find a value anomaly in the London stock market using the K-means clustering method between 2010 and 2020 for stock selection. This thesis compares the raw returns of value portfolios created with different numbers of clusters, as well as their risk-adjusted performance. Value portfolios are created by filtering the data from the thesis using the clustering method, the stocks with the lowest P/E, P/B, and P/CF ratios. In connection with the comparison of the returns of value portfolios, it is also determined how much the selected number of clusters affects the total return of the portfolio.
The thesis consists of two entities. The first entity in the thesis is a literature review. As a second entity, the dissertation has empirical parts, which were carried out as a quantitative study.
The research results suggest that by using the clustering method in the London stock market, it has been possible to find a value anomaly in the considered time period. When comparing value portfolios created with six different cluster numbers, only one of the created portfolios lost to the FTSE 100 Total Return index in terms of return.
