Tiivistelmä
Tämän diplomityön tavoitteena oli pyrkiä vakioimaan Stora Enson Inkeroisten kartonkitehtaan taivekartongin laatua käyttämällä uutta käyttöönotettavaa SPC-menetelmään eli tilastolliseen prosessinohjaukseen perustuvaa dataPARC -sovellusta. Sovelluksen avulla oli tarkoitus löytää laatuun, tarkemmin formaatioon, eniten vaikuttavia tekijöitä. Valittujen muuttujien avulla pyrittiin optimoimaan taivekartongin valmistusprosessia, jotta laatuvaihtelua saadaan vähennettyä.
Tulosten perusteella kartonkikoneen nopeudella on suuri merkitys kartongin formaatioon erityisesti raskaammilla neliömassoilla. The goal of this Master´s Thesis was to standardize quality of folding boxboard at Stora Enso Ingerois Oy by using new application called dataPARC which is based on SPC (statistical process control) method. By using the application, the goal was to find the parameters that have the greatest influence on the formation of folding boxboard. The selected parameters were used to optimize the manufacturing process of folding boxboard in order to reduce variations in quality.
In the literature part, the manufacturing process of folding boxboard, desired properties of folding boxboard the definition of quality, principles of SPC method and utilization of SPC method at Ingerois Oy were studied. In the experimental part, the process variables affecting to the formation of folding boxboard were studied, from which the parameters with the greatest influence on the formation were selected by using dataPARC application based on SPC method. After the selection of the process parameters, multivariate tests were performed to prove the effect of the selected variables on the formation of folding boxboard. In the experimental part, the implementation of new method and application and challenges of the implementation in industry environment were examined.
According to the results, the speed of the cardboard machine has a huge impact to the formation of the cardboard, especially to the higher grammages. There is less variation in the formation at slower speed and the overall quality of the cardboard is better when higher grammages are in production. If the target is to maximize the cardboard quality, speed has also a significant effect on other process parameters, such as the lip gap of the frame headbox. In other words, the same process values, or changes in values linearly in relation to the speed did not produce better quality. Although, the speed did not matter as much on lower grammages, still formation and other quality characteristics were slightly better at slower speed compared to higher speed.
