Tuotantolinjan perusolosuhteiden määrittäminen ja vaihtelun vähentäminen

Abstract

Suorituskyvyn mittaus on tärkeä osa organisaatioiden toimintaa. Suorituskyvyn mittaamisella voidaan tukea johdon päätöksentekoa ja ohjata tuotantoa oikeanlaiseen toimintaan. Työn tavoitteena on kehittää suorituskykymittaristo tukemaan tuotannon työntekijöitä. Tämän avulla tuotantoa ja sen onnistumista voidaan arvioida. Yhtenäisen mittariston avulla tuotannossa olevaa vaihtelua voidaan vähentää.

Tutkimuksessa keskityttiin kohdeyrityksen yhteen tuotantolinjaan. Tutkimuksen kohdeorganisaatio on elintarviketeollisuuden yritys. Tutkimuksessa pyrittiin selvittämään tuotannon vaihtelun taustasyitä, löytämään tärkeimpiä mittauskohteita ja kehittämään mittareita tuotantolinjan arviointia varten. Tutkimus suoritettiin kvalitatiivisena tapaustutkimuksena. Tutkimuksen teoriaosuus kattaa suorituskyvyn, suorituskyvyn mittaamisen ja elintarviketeollisuuden, sekä siihen vaikuttavia aiheita. Tutkimuksen empiirisen osuuden aineisto kerättiin teemahaastattelujen avulla.

Tutkimuksessa todettiin, että suurin vaihtelua aiheuttava tekijä, johon voidaan vaikuttaa, on työntekijä. Tutkimuksen tulokseksi laadittiin ehdotuksia mittareista, joilla tuotantoa voidaan arvioida ja ohjata. Kehitetty mittaristo tukee tuotannon työntekijöitä prosessin arvioinnissa ja samalla se ohjaa tuotantoa oikeaan suuntaan.

Performance measurement is an important part of organizations’ operations. Performance measurement can support management’s decision-making and guide production to the right direction. The goal of this work is to develop a performance measurement system to support the production workers. With this, the production and its success can be evaluated. With the help of a measurements, the variation in production can be reduced.

The study focused on one production line of the study’s company. The target organization of the study is a food industry company. The research aimed to find out the underlying causes of the variation in production, find the most important measurement objects, and develop metrics for the evaluation of the production line. The research was conducted as a qualitative case study. The theoretical part of the research covers performance, performance measurement and the food industry, as well as topics affecting it. The material for the empirical part of the study was collected through thematic interviews.

The study concluded that the biggest factor causing variation, that can be influenced is the worker. As a result of the research, proposals were drawn up for metrics that can be used to evaluate and guide the production. The developed measurements support the production workers in process evaluation and at the same time it guides the production to the right direction.
