Taloushallinnon automatisointi kasvavassa yrityksessä

Abstract

Automatisointi on noussut merkittäväksi kehityssuunnaksi taloushallinnon prosesseissa. Taloushallinnon usein toistuvat sekä sääntöpohjaiset prosessit ovat ideaaleja kohteita automatisoitavaksi RPA-ohjelmistorobotiikalla. Kehityksen motivaationa on tehostaa prosesseja sekä parantaa niiden varmuutta. Tämän tutkielman tavoitteena on selvittää kasvavan yrityksen valmiuksia prosessien automatisointiin tarkastelemalla automatisointiin liittyviä ajureita sekä esteistä. Tutkielman empiirinen osuus toteutettiin haastattelemalla kymmentä suomalaisen IT-alan yrityksen taloushallinnon asiantuntijaa. Tutkimuksessa keskeisiksi ajureiksi havaittiin automatisoinnin mukanaan tuomat hyödyt, kuten työntekijöiden työajan säästäminen ja sen kohdistaminen vaativimpiin tehtäviin sekä prosessien tuottamien tietojen luotettavuuden kasvaminen. Lisäksi ajuriksi havaittiin automaation positiivinen vaikutus työn mielekkyyteen taloushallinnossa, kun manuaalista tehtävistä fokus siirretään analyyttisempiin ja vaativampiin tehtäviin. Keskeisiksi esteiksi havaittiin automaatioon liittyvän teknisen osaamisen puute sekä yrityksen haasteet toteuttaa sisäisiä kehityshankkeita.

Automatization of processes has risen as a key direction of development within financial management. The processes in financial management are often rule-based and frequently recurring. These types of processes are ideal for automation with Robotic process automation software. The motivation for this development is often related with increase of the processes efficacy and rise in quality of the processes output. The purpose of this study is to find out the capabilities of a growing company to automate their processes in financial management by looking at the drivers and barriers relating to automation of financial management processes. The empirical part of the research is conducted as a qualitative study. The data was collected by interviewing ten employees from a Finnish IT company’s financial management team. Results show that the key drivers are often related with the benefits of implementing the automation. Key benefits are the savings in working hours related to a specific process and the increase in the reliability and quality of the processes outputs. In addition the ability to sift focus from the mundane and repetitive tasks to the more challenging and analytical tasks is a driver for the automation of process in financial management. Key barriers is the lack of technical skills related to automation in financial management and the challenges in executing internal development projects.
