Nowadays, the importance of Test Automation in software engineering is increasing to stay competitive and deliver innovations to customers faster without sacrificing quality. Currently, most software development companies consider investing more in automated testing practices and tools to prevent defects during the software development process. But the use of test automation comes with difficulties and potential sustainability concerns. Also, the usage of test automation may have negative effects on the environment, particularly in terms of energy use and carbon emissions. As a result of the introduction and promotion of green software engineering, software development businesses are moving toward the green and sustainable consideration of the software development process.
The purpose of this study is to identify software test automation practices and tools along with their challenges which can be helpful for organizations to move forward with a greener and more sustainable software development approach.
