Tiivistelmä
This thesis aims to explore the advantages and prospects of the application of shape memory alloys in the automotive field through the research on the performance and application of shape memory alloys from five aspects: theoretical background, manufacturing, sustainability, commercial and future trends. The thesis examines the applications of shape memory alloys in bumpers, shape memory alloy heat engines and other components. The work will be carried out by using an applied method triangulation including scientific literature search, commercial literature search, and expert interviews. In addition, the thesis discusses shape memory effect, superelasticity and other characteristics which can be widely utilized in Manufacture of auto parts. The results show that the application of shape memory alloys can improve the safety and energy saving of automobiles. The development of thermal engine technology is of great significance to the realization of sustainable development goals, and its application also has broad market prospects. The thesis summarizes the advantages of the application of shape memory alloys, which has guiding significance for material selection in the automotive industry.
