Tiivistelmä
Nowadays, IoT development empowers easy access and interaction with a wide range of devices, such as home appliances, surveillance cameras, sensors, actuators, monitors, vehicles, etc. This enables the provision of new services to citizens, companies, and public places. As a result, it will have a major impact on several aspects of a potential user's daily life and behavior.
With the growing ecosystem of IoT, standards need to be flexible enough to integrate new components and be able to abandon old ones. Ideally, users could do this themselves to allow them to configure their own system with the devices they prefer. Therefore, this study aims to explore the standardization approach by actors in the field, to provide insights into which strategies are useful to use and which not. The purpose of the study was made through an analysis of the key technology standards that have been implemented over the past years, along with the innovation strategies that have been used by actors in the field to deal with the standards. open standardization. This leads to the following research question: What strategies have been used to create open standards for IoT and how does this affect current IoT standardization?
