Tiivistelmä
This thesis investigates the potential of heat pump implementation in creating a more sustainable district heating system in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The study analyses the benchmark state of the selected network and proposes several scenarios of integration. A combination of statistical sources, literature review, and modeling was used to evaluate the economic, and environmental impacts of integration.
The results indicate that heat pumps can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and costs through the proposed scenarios. However, the study also highlights the need for further research on an improved calculation standard for district heating emissions in the Netherlands and recommends the use of more elaborate models to increase the accuracy of calculations.
