Nation-wide projection of motivators and consumer willingness for direct load control demand response in Finland

Abstract

The current participation of residential sector in Demand Response (DR) is low due to various factors. Understanding the consumer motivation towards DR and their preference to enroll their household loads are essential for a widespread adoption of DR. This paper focuses on the residential consumer responses on motivator preferences to DR and their Willingness To Enroll (WTE) different household loads in DR. The research is based on a survey answered by residential consumers of Finland and extrapolates the survey results to match the national statistics of Finland. The results from this paper provide valuable information regarding consumer motivators and household load preferences in DR and regarding the potential WTE in the Finnish population.
