Grid integration and testing of MMC-based voltage source converter : VSC MMC technology

Abstract

The purpose of this thesis was to benchmark and evaluate the testing methods of voltage source technology systems. Focus of the thesis was to test voltage source converter control system from the grid perspective. Grid perspective testing differs from converter testing in that focus is on grid stability not in converter internal phenomena or protection. The modern power system is increasingly dominated by converters so extensive testing and in-depth knowledge of new system is essential to achieve a stable power system.
