Tiivistelmä
This thesis explores the future of wind turbines in Finland. This article will analyze the external natural conditions of Finland and the existing wind turbine technology to find out which aspects of the industry will be worth focusing on in the future. The external natural conditions: terrain conditions, climate and weather conditions and wind conditions will be analyzed. For existing technology: Basic information about the internal structure and drive systems of current Finnish wind turbines will be analyzed.
The thesis concludes that Finland will face more severe cold weather in the future and will eventually run out of land on which to build wind farms. Further research and development of anti-freezing measures and investment in the construction of offshore wind power platforms in the Gulf of Bothnia will be the two most important development directions of the Finnish wind turbine industry in the future.
