Tiivistelmä
In this thesis, citizen participation and co-creation methods with respect to Urban mobility and city design practised in various capacities across the cities of EU was explored. The research walks us through the importance of smart city, urban mobility and its co-relation with citizen participation. In the process, there were 9 different cities interviewed and their outputs have been documented as case studies. The method of thematic analysis was employed to analyse the data and themes were formed based on the responses provided by the interviewees. Further, to showcase the results of analysis, maturity matrix was developed with case specific parameters in place. Overall, the results show a consistent pattern in the limited sample cities where, if a city checks all the parameters in maturity matrix, that is, it is adapting well in the spaces of urban mobility, has active citizen participation and uses advance technological methods to capture GIS data or public responses, it is safe to assume that those cities are functioning and evolving in smarter way in more consistent fashion. Overall, this study can be further used to develop living labs in ideal cities which fulfil major parameters, and in parallel, other cities may use parameters to track their own growth in the space of citizen interaction, co-creation and urban mobility.
