Tiivistelmä
This thesis provides an overview of the process of manufacturing microwave receivers for maritime radar systems, focusing on performance requirements, material properties, and manufacturing ability. Concrete analysis of the manufacturing was performed through Solid-works. By analyzing the basic components, design principles, and environmental impacts associated with maritime radar applications, the study solved the challenges of material selection and manufacturing processes when faced with the tough demands of the marine environment (e.g.corrosion resistance). Provides a systematic review of the material selection process, emphasizing corrosion resistance and mechanical stability, while considering the economics and manufacturability of potential materials. The design principles adopted aim to balance performance, ease of assembly and cost constraints. By applying DFMA principles, the research aims to minimize waste and reduce production time without compromising the quality or performance of the final product. “The topic of this thesis belongs to the broader research project at LUT University during year 2024. The research project focuses to the DFMA and sustainability analyses of more than 40 different MW and RF components. The results of this thesis will be utilized later to build an overall picture of the DFMA and sustainability aspects related to MW and RF technology.”
