Tiivistelmä
In the increasingly competitive marketplace, the study to quantify the impacts of service innovation on business performance is crucial. The influence of service innovation in improving business performance, both financially and non-financially, is widely acknowledged. However, the academic and practical perspectives of its direct influence in improving business performance are diverse and not consistent. The objective of this research is to critically assess the link between service innovation and business performance and then quantify the overall impact of service innovation on business performance using meta-analysis.
This thesis integrates quantitative findings from 57 peer-reviewed publications and evaluates the interrelation between service innovation and business performance. The analysis involves the use of Meta-Analytical techniques such as Meta-Binary Analysis and Meta-Regression Analysis to test the hypotheses generated for the relationship between service innovation and business performance and the effect of moderators on this relationship.
The results reveal that service innovation positively impacts business performance. Moreover, moderators such as customer participation, economic situation, type of business, and performance evaluation methods play a moderating role in the relationship between the two. The findings provide insightful directions to academics, decision-makers, and industrial professionals to consider the role of moderators according to their research or business context when applying service innovation strategies. Future directions for research are proposed to further investigate the complexity of service innovation-business performance linkage.
