This study investigates the transition from waterfall to DevOps within organizations, highlighting success factors, challenges, and mitigation strategies. It emphasizes the role of digital transformation in maintaining competitive advantage. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with ten IT experts in lead roles across multiple organizations to gather valuable insights. The information gathered from these interviews was analysed using thematic analysis. The results indicate that solid leadership support, effective communication, automation, and a collaborative culture are critical success factors. Challenges include cultural resistance, technological adaptation, and ensuring robust security measures. The study also examines strategies to address these challenges. The transition to DevOps significantly improves productivity, product quality, and working culture. This research provides valuable insights into the dynamics of the DevOps transition, offering practical guidance for effective organizational change, and is beneficial to both researchers and professionals.
