Tiivistelmä
Vendor selection is a significant process that impacts the entire organization’s supply chain. This study presents a robust, academically rigorous roasted coffee bean supplier selection framework utilizing the Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (Fuzzy AHP) solution. This research aims to establish a model to identify the criteria affecting the decision-making procedure and identify the most suitable vendor for a coffee shop in Helsinki, Finland.
This study adopts the Fuzzy AHP practice in evaluating both criteria and alternatives. The Fuzzy AHP method enhances flexibility in handling imprecise criteria and uncertain judgments by applying the Triangular Fuzzy Number (TFN) to establish the criteria weights and supplier ranking. Through a comprehensive analysis of existing research in the coffee supplier selection domain, this study identifies the five critical criteria influencing vendor selection: Price, Quality, Delivery, Service, and Sustainability. From Fuzzy AHP findings, coffee experts prioritize Price and Quality as primary considerations in supplier selection. According to the evaluation, supplier A1 has the most potential. These insights offer tangible benefits for businesses, enabling them to optimize their supplier selection process and enhance supplier chain management practices. The comparative analysis between the results generated by traditional AHP and Fuzzy AHP shows the same ranking in criteria and alternative evaluation and the ability of Fuzzy AHP to capture the uncertainty of the judgment. This underscores the practicality and reliability of our approach, supporting future comparative studies in supplier selection decision-making.
