Tiivistelmä
In today's fast-changing business environment, Agile methods enable organizations to quickly adapt to new technologies, market trends, and customer needs, providing a competitive edge over traditional approaches. Embracing Agile requires a shift in mindset and strategy across all business areas, including organization, technology, processes, values, and vendor relationships. This thesis explores the integration of Agile methodologies into vendor management, highlighting key considerations for effective management within an Agile framework.
The thesis is divided into two parts. The first part is a literature review that outlines Waterfall and Agile Vendor Management activities and their differences, introducing the new Agile partnership approach. The second part is a qualitative study based on semi-structured interviews with members of five different Agile teams within a case company. These interviews were analyzed to evaluate Vendor Management practices in outsourced Agile teams.
The study's findings indicate that Waterfall Vendor Management practices need to be adapted to Agile principles to achieve efficient Agile management and value delivery. Key focus areas for Agile IT Vendor Management include fostering a shared Agile culture, vendor engagement and empowerment, facilitating colocation, contract management, Agile tools and technology, and long-term commitment with iterative improvement. Support from company leadership is essential for enabling successful and seamless Agile practices.
