The purpose of this thesis was to investigate the quality management and automated testing strategies in Identity and Access Management (IAM) projects. The aim was to provide background information for quality management documentation, test automation model, and measures for assessing the quality of IAM projects in the case company.
The case company of this master's thesis is an ICT group that is a major expert company in global digital development and security solutions. The case company aims to implement a new project delivery model framework for its digital security unit, guiding the delivery of its IAM projects. The results of this study are based on a comprehensive literature review with empirical data collection through interviews with specialists, developers, consultants, architects, and managers who are involved in working with IAM technologies at the case company.
The results of this work highlight the importance of adopting systematic quality management into the project delivery framework based on the software industry’s best practices to ensure high quality in IAM projects. In addition, systematic testing processes are an important part of quality assurance (QA) practices, and part of these processes can be automated with the selected frameworks to support high-quality project delivery.
