Tiivistelmä
The Policy Recommendations are intended for policy makers, social partners, researchers and journalists, both in the EU and globally. They aim to foster a better understanding of the social, ecological and political implications of the mainstream approach to green-digital transition (also commonly referred to as the twin transition) from a political economy perspective. Additionally, they provide policy guidelines on how to reconceptualise the approaches to the green-digital transition in order to simultaneously address other societal crises including national and global inequalities, labour exploitation, digital media misinformation and disinformation, as well as knowledge monopoly.
The recommendations draw on literature review of the topic at hand, and recent research findings from leading scholars in political economy, whose research shed light on the multifaceted dimensions of the green-digital transition in the context of EU and in light of the Global North-South relations. The scholars presented and debated their research in the context of global ecological and economic crises during the International Workshop and Summer School on the Political Economy of Green-digital Transition at LUT University in Lappeenranta, Finland, in June 2024.
