Digital twin technologies are transforming manufacturing operations by enhancing efficiency, adaptability, and integration within Industry 4.0 ecosystems. These technologies enable manufacturers to optimize workflows, reduce waste, and achieve seamless system interoperability—key components of modern operational strategies. This study evaluates Hiava Oy’s digital twin tool, focusing on its alignment with critical operational efficiency factors, challenges to adoption, and its ability to meet the evolving demands of manufacturing. Using a qualitative case study approach, the research integrates thematic analysis of participant interviews, literature insights, and the tool’s developmental roadmap to provide a holistic assessment of its effectiveness. The findings underscore the importance of iterative user feedback and phased development to strike a balance between simplicity and advanced functionality. By offering a comprehensive evaluation framework and actionable recommendations, this study contributes to the field of digital twin technologies, advancing the tool’s relevance and adoption in contemporary manufacturing and charting a course for future research and innovation in this domain.
