Tiivistelmä
This master’s thesis presents a framework for sustainable innovation, concentrated on Sustainable Business Model Innovation within large European EV battery recycling firms. This qualitative research, through a thematic analysis of secondary data, comprised of corporates’ publications and reports, identifies key drivers, barriers, and mechanisms of sustainable innovation. The thesis explores how companies align strategies with sustainability goals, generate and implement innovative sustainable solutions, and measure sustainable innovation performance and discovers the barriers that resist these practices.
The proposed framework in this research is an endeavour to integrate academic and industry insights and practices and develop reliable guidance for steering sustainable innovation within battery recycling firms. This thesis addresses the gaps in sustainable innovation application with a focus on sustainable business model innovation in the EV battery recycling industry and highlights the significance of partnerships and collaborations in both strategic alignment and innovative solutions development. Moreover, this research provides a foundation for future studies on sustainable innovation in emerging sectors.
