Tiivistelmä
Driving the transition to sustainable energy systems is crucial for combating global warming and fostering equitable development. This thesis explores how agroindustry and manufacturing sectors are addressed in peer-reviewed studies and evaluates their representation in recent IPCC projections. Despite their pivotal roles in energy demand and emissions, these sectors are frequently generalised, with insufficient attention to transformative strategies for eliminating hydrocarbon fuel dependence. Research underscores scalable pathways, such as advanced clean energy integration, but IPCC projections exhibit a restrained perspective, maintaining reliance on conventional energy sources. Strengthening integrated models with diversified clean energy technologies, sector-specific insights, and enhanced time-scale granularity can foster better decarbonisation strategies. Furthermore, tackling regional inequalities and addressing broader greenhouse emissions in agroindustry remain vital for advancing a fair and inclusive shift to sustainable energy systems that supports environmental objectives.
