Tiivistelmä
The rapid growth of Extended Reality (XR) technologies, which include both Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR), has transformed user interactions with the digital world and has created new challenges as well as opportunities for designing User Experience (UX). New challenges as well as opportunities primarily for evaluating user experiences in these environments is the focus of this thesis. This review looks at established UX evaluation methodologies and how they've been adapted to immersive XR environments, with the goal of identifying the challenges and the opportunities they present. This thesis uses a multivocal literature review approach to 40 peer-reviewed academic papers and 15 grey literatures to integrate findings from peer-reviewed academic research and grey literature, such as industry reports, web articles, blogs, and University thesis.
This review examines traditional method of UX evaluation and analyses available literatures for their effectiveness in addressing XR-specific aspects like presence, immersion, and simulator sickness. It also investigates emerging XR-specific tools and techniques to make adequate suggestions for existing challenges and opportunities in adopting traditional evaluation methods in XR environments.
