Tiivistelmä
This research focuses on the environmental analysis, material selection and other manufacturing aspects trough R9 strategies of a frequency converter for a deep space probe. In this research triangulation is utilised, that encapsulates expert interview, literature review and use of R9 strategies, and use of SolidWorks sustainability module. The results show that aluminium alloy 6082 is the best option for the frequency converter, due to its lower environmental impact and ease of manufacturing. Also manufacturing drawings were made for the frequency converter, considering tolerances so that energy used during manufacturing is lowered. A new environmentally and operator friendly cyanide free gold plating method is to be used during manufacturing.
