Tiivistelmä
Sustainability analysis of the 8-12GHz microwave (MW) coupling loop is discussed in this thesis. This thesis pertains to an inclusive research project at Lappeenranta-Lahti University (LUT) doing analysis of more than 40 MW and radiofrequency (RF) components. The purpose of this research aims to discuss the key areas in the life cycle of a microwave coupling loop and how the integration of R9 principles to these areas enhances the sustainability of the microwave coupling loop. Triangulation research method is implemented in this thesis consisting of expert interview, SolidWorks, literature review and sustainability and circular economy analysis supported by value analysis. The key findings in this thesis are material C11000 ETP copper is the recommended material, moreover, manufacturing process can be made sustainable such as adopting scheduled nesting and using fibre lasers. The major areas discussed in this thesis is the material selected, manufacturing process and the End of Life in the life cycle of the MW coupling loop.
