Tiivistelmä
This thesis examines the potential of solar power generation in Finland, addressing the challenges posed by its high-latitude location, such as low winter irradiance and regional climatic variations. Using real irradiance and temperature data, along with a Simulink-based model, the study analyzes how solar photovoltaic (PV) systems affect grid voltage under strong and weak grid conditions. The results show that while voltage remains stable in strong grids, weak grids experience significant fluctuations, especially under low irradiance. The findings highlight the need for grid reinforcement and advanced control strategies, confirming that solar energy—despite seasonal limitations—can play a viable role in Finland’s renewable energy future.
