Tiivistelmä
Heat transfer in porous media is crucial for heat transfer research. This thesis starts from the theoretical basis. The history of porous media, related concepts of porous media, and working principles are studied. Heat transfer in porous media is studied in combination with empirical equations. The thermodynamic properties of two packing beds are investigated under certain assumptions. The thermal conductivities of 446 stainless steel and silicon carbide are investigated. The thesis also analyses the effect of different material fillings on heat transfer in the packed bed. Finally, the differences between theory and practice, the assumptions made in theoretical calculations, and the conditions in actual engineering production are discussed. This thesis provides learning aids and examples for heat transfer in porous media.
