Tiivistelmä
This study was done with the main purpose of exploring the challenges and strategies associated with achieving sustainability in the supply chains of freight forwarding companies in Finland. The researcher identified that it is challenging to adopt sustainable SCM (SSCM) for firms. On the other hand, there were minimal studies being done in the context of Finnish freight forwarding companies. This study followed a qualitative research method. Interviews were conducted for four freight forwarding companies in Finland. These interview questionnaires were built based on the literature identified through the study. A thematic analysis was done to achieve the objectives. According to the analysis, it was identified that there are technological barriers to adopting SSCM in these Finnish companies. Regulatory barriers exist, and there were issues with awareness regarding SSCM. It was recommended to provide training programmes to improve the skills of the employees in Finnish freight companies related to SSCM. Further, investments in infrastructure are needed for these firms. Development of data collection and analysis should be promoted.
