Tiivistelmä
This thesis explores the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the process of business scaling. To this end, an in-depth literature review was conducted on the concept of scaling, the impact of digital transformation, and the implementation of AI, concluding with a definition of scaling proposed by the author. The research adopts a qualitative approach, based on semi-structured interviews with industry experts and academics. The data collected were analysed using an inductive thematic analysis procedure. The findings reveal a predominantly positive impact of AI as an enabler of business scaling. However, the study also highlights significant challenges, related to strategic and operational obstacles in growth processes, as well as the need to rethink managerial competencies and organizational configurations. The analysis further identifies a range of factors that influence the actual impact of AI on scaling. Finally, the research outlines directions for future research aimed at investigating emerging and underexplored areas, which are increasingly relevant for understanding the relationship between AI and business scaling.
