Tiivistelmä
This thesis introduces a systematic software energy hotspot-driven approach to provide guidelines for architectural tactics selection to enhance energy efficiency of public cloud native applications. Through a collaboration with a Dutch financial organization, we formalized and developed a framework to identify energy hotspots of public cloud native applications using standardized metrics such as energy consumption (kWh) and profile applications as computation, network, and data-intensive, thus bridging the gap between academia and industry. The approach was validated through crossover design experiments, demonstrating that providing architects with hotspot and profile data significantly enhances context-aware targeted decision-making and increases the efficiency of green architectural tactic selection, significantly reducing decision-making time.
