Tiivistelmä
This study analyses electricity consumption in Finnish industrial sectors, focusing on energy-intensive industries such as forestry, chemicals, and basic metals. Sensitivity analysis is used to identify patterns of electricity use and opportunities to increase efficiency. Results indicate that reducing electricity consumption by 5% in these sectors could free up substantial energy capacity, approximately 1,200 GWh per annum, thereby can support the operation of about 8,500 electric trucks. This reallocation of industrial energy savings can lead to reduce infrastructure challenges, accelerates the transition to electric transportation, and promotes the widespread adoption of electric trucks in Finland. By addressing energy efficiency within industry, this approach strengthens national energy flexibility and supports long-term carbon neutrality goals.
