This thesis explores the challenges and best practices of implementing test automation within Agile software development environments that incorporate Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) practices. The study identifies key obstacles, including frequent requirement changes, unreliable or flaky tests, limited access to stable test data, and integration difficulties within CI/CD pipelines.
Conversely, effective strategies such as early tester involvement, risk-based prioritization, delta testing, and cross-functional collaboration were found to enhance automation outcomes. The findings demonstrate that the success of test automation depends not only on technical proficiency and tool selection but also on organizational culture, communication, and shared ownership. By combining qualitative interview insights with quantitative survey data, the research provides a comprehensive understanding of how Agile practices influence test automation and offers practical guidance for improving automation maturity and sustainability in modern software teams.
