Tiivistelmä

The electric vehicle (EV) industry faces significant supply chain disruptions due to raw material shortages, geopolitical tensions, and fluctuating demand. Therefore, enhancing supply chain resilience (SCRes) is crucial for maintaining operational stability and fostering sustainable growth. Thus, in this context, the concept of SCRes has emerged as a critical priority for stakeholders seeking to ensure stability and continuity in their business operations. This chapter explores how the multifaceted role of digitalization serves as a key enabler in strengthening SCRes in the EV sector. It begins with the theoretical foundations of SCRes and proceeds with how the implementation of advanced digital technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain, automation and robotics, autonomous vehicles, digital twin, and big data analytics, can enhance visibility, optimize decision-making, and improve risk management across their supply chain networks. Furthermore, it also explores industry-specific insights to show how digital integration can help EV manufacturers and suppliers to better manage risks, adapt to disruptions, and align with sustainability goals. It also examines current issues, such as technology integration, financial boundaries, and employee readiness, which may hinder the efficient deployment of digital systems. The chapter concludes with a forward-looking view that emphasizes the value of strategic collaboration, regulatory support, and continual innovation in building resilience into digitally connected EV supply chains. The findings emphasize that digitalization is not just a facilitator but also a necessary component for developing resilient, future-ready supply networks in the EV industry.
