Developing the service processes of the energy market control room

Abstract

This thesis examined the implementation and development of an energy market control room’s processes. A deployment model for new services and an operating method that supports continuous development were created for the services in the control room. The work also created a basis for uniform documentation and instructions to make it easier for the control room operator to update and use them. The theoretical part of the thesis focused on the energy market, the factors operating there, and control room operations in general.

As a result of the master's thesis, two flow charts were obtained. These flow charts describe the flow of service implementation to the control room, as well as the continuous development of these processes. The flowcharts consider the roles of the service specialist, the product team, and the control room personnel. in the implementation of the service, as well as in continuous development. The basis for the documentation was created by utilizing the issues mentioned in the ISO standards, adding information relevant to the energy market. With the results of the work, the introduction of services is clear, and continuous development enables a high level of service in the changing energy market.

Tässä diplomityössä tarkasteltiin energiamarkkinoilla toimivan valvomon toimintaa ja sinne tuotavien palveluiden kehittämistä. Valvomoon tuotaville palveluille luotiin käyttöönottomalli ja jatkuvaa kehitystä tukeva toimintatapa. Työssä luotiin myös pohja yhtenäiselle dokumentaatiolle ja ohjeistuksille, jotta niiden päivittäminen ja käyttäminen olisi helpompaa valvomo-operaattorille. Työn teoreettinen osuus keskittyi energiamarkkinoihin, siellä toimiviin tekijöihin, sekä valvomotoimintaan yleisellä tasolla.

Diplomityön tuloksena saatiin kaksi prosessikaaviota. Nämä prosessikaaviot kuvaavat palvelun tuonnin kulkua valvomoympäristöön, sekä jatkuvaa kehitystä kyseisissä prosesseissa. Kaavioissa otetaan huomioon palveluvastaavan, tuotetiimin, sekä valvomon henkilökunnan roolit. Dokumentoinnin pohja luotiin hyödyntäen ISO-standardeissa mainittuja asioita, lisäten energiamarkkinoille relevanttia informaatiota. Työn tulosten avulla palvelujen käyttöönotto on selkeää ja jatkuva kehitys mahdollistaa korkean palvelutason muuttuvilla energiamarkkinoilla.
