Tiivistelmä
This bachelor’s thesis examines garage door solutions for residential use in Finnish winter conditions. The study compares a sectional overhead garage door and a bi-fold lift-up garage door in terms of structural behaviour, usability, cost, installation, and automation by using local observation, 3D modelling in SolidWorks, and structural analysis in ANSYS. The results show that both concepts are technically feasible, but the sectional overhead garage door is the more suitable overall solution because it offers better winter performance, easier automation, and greater practical suitability for residential use.
