Tiivistelmä
This thesis explored the connection between low-carbon living and well-being within the context of sustainable development. The main aim of the study is to explore how adopting low-carbon lifestyle practices influence individual well-being. In addition, the study identifies the challenges and motivations associated with adopting such lifestyles.
The research employed a quantitative methodology using an online survey distributed through social media platforms. A total of 91 participants completed the questionnaire, which includes low-carbon behaviours as well as perceived impacts on individual well-being. Descriptive statistical techniques were used to analyse the data.
The results show that the low-carbon living is positively linked with well-being results. Many respondents reported benefits like better physical health, lower stress levels, and a stronger sense of meaning and purpose. In addition, sustainable practices were perceived to strengthen the community connections.
Overall, the findings suggested that low-carbon living practices can support both environmental sustainability and human well-being. However, awareness is essential to overcome the barriers for adopting low-carbon living. In addition, health benefits is considered as the most motivating factor for adopting low-carbon living among respondents.
