Tiivistelmä
Electric aviation is seen as a pathway for a cleaner future while offering new possibilities. This thesis aims to understand the enabling factors for electric machines and drives for propulsion. It examines currently available technologies and innovations needed for the future. According to the technical analysis presented here, two main frontiers that will enable this leap are SC machines and WBG semiconductors like SiC, which can enable high-voltage, high-frequency switching in smaller footprints. Synergy between LH2 as fuel and SC is seen as a key to unlocking large aircraft. Effective integration of different technologies, as well as optimizing the system to fit the needs of the application, could have a pivotal role.

Electric vehicles as a resource to balance the price peaks in electricity spot markets - case Finland
Haakana, Juha; Haapaniemi, Jouni; Lamminpää, Aleksi; Lassila, Jukka
IET Conference Proceedings (The Institution of Engineering and Technology, 01.07.2025)In the past few years, the volatility of electricity spot market prices has been high in the Finnish power system. This has motivated users to allocate electricity consumption such as electric car charging to low-price-hours. ... -
