Tiivistelmä
MUC–Lukio-yhteistyön kesätyöpilotointi 2026 toteutettiin Mikkelin yliopistokeskuksen toimijoiden yhteistyönä tavoitteena vahvistaa lukioiden ja korkeakoulujen välistä yhteistyötä sekä tarjota lukiolaisille mahdollisuus tutustua korkeakoulujen tutkimus-, kehitys- ja asiantuntijatyöhön käytännön työtehtävien kautta.
Pilotin avulla haluttiin madaltaa nuorten kynnystä tutustua korkeakouluympäristöön, lisätä ymmärrystä erilaisista opiskelu- ja urapoluista sekä arvioida uudenlaisen kesätyömallin toimivuutta.
Pilotissa työskenteli neljä lukiolaista LUT-yliopiston bioenergian ja erotustekniikan tutkimusryhmissä, Helsingin yliopiston Ruralia-instituutissa sekä Kansalliskirjastossa. Kesätyöjaksoihin sisältyi organisaatiokohtaisia työtehtäviä, päivittäistä ohjausta, yhteisiä tapahtumia, tutustumiskäyntejä, työpajoja sekä työn tulosten esittely loppuseminaarissa. Lisäksi opiskelijat pääsivät tutustumaan korkeakoulujen toimintaan, työntekijöihin, opiskelijoihin sekä kansainvälisiin tutkimusympäristöihin.
Pilotin kokemukset olivat pääosin myönteisiä. Kesätyöntekijöiden palautteen perusteella työtehtävät koettiin mielenkiintoisiksi ja motivoiviksi, ja yhteinen ohjelma tuki opiskelijoiden verkostoitumista sekä tutustumista korkeakoulumaailmaan. Samalla tunnistettiin kehityskohteita erityisesti rekrytoinnissa, työtehtä-
vien ennakkosuunnittelussa, ohjauksen järjestämisessä sekä osallistuvien organisaatioiden hallinnollisten käytäntöjen yhteensovittamisessa.
Kokonaisuutena pilotti saavutti sille asetetut tavoitteet ja osoitti, että lukiolaisten
työllistäminen korkeakoulujen tutkimus- ja asiantuntijaympäristöihin on toimiva
tapa vahvistaa alueellista korkeakouluyhteistyötä sekä tukea nuorten koulutus- ja
uravalintoja. Pilotin aikana saadut kokemukset luovat hyvän perustan toimintamallin jatkokehittämiselle tulevina vuosina. The 2026 MUC Upper Secondary School Cooperation summer work pilot was implemented through the collaboration of actors within the Mikkeli University Centre with the aim of strengthening the cooperation between upper secondary schools and higher education institutions and providing high school students with the opportunity to become acquainted with the research, development, and expert work of higher education institutions through practical work tasks. Through the pilot, it was intended to lower the threshold for young people to become acquainted with the higher education environment, increase understanding of different study and career paths, and evaluate the viability of a new type of summer employment model.
Four upper secondary school students worked in the pilot in LUT University's bioenergy and separation technology research groups, the University of Helsinki's Ruralia Institute, and the National Library of Finland. The summer work periods included organization-specific tasks, daily guidance, joint events, visits, workshops, and the presentation of the work results in a final seminar. In addition, the students had the opportunity to become acquainted with the operations of higher education institutions, staff, students, and international research environments.
The experiences of the pilot were mainly positive. Based on the feedback from the summer employees, the work tasks were perceived as interesting and motivating, and the joint program supported the students' networking and their introduction to the academic world. At the same time, areas for development were identified, particularly in recruitment, the pre-planning of work tasks, the organization of guidance, and the alignment of the administrative practices of the participating organizations.
Overall, the pilot achieved its set objectives and demonstrated that employing upper secondary school students in the research and expert environments of higher education institutions is an effective way to strengthen regional higher education cooperation and support the education and career choices of young people. The experiences gained during the pilot create a good foundation for the further development of the operational model in the coming years.
