Titaanisen valkaisutornin korjaussuunnitelma
Pöllänen, Ilkka (2008)
Tiivistelmä
Tämän työn tarkoituksena on poistaa toistuvasti esiintyneet vauriot titaanisessa valkaisutornissa Kuusankosken paperitehtailla.
Kuormitusten suuruudet arvioitiin konservatiivisesti.
The aim of this Master of Science thesis is to eliminate recurrent failures of the Bleaching Tower shell at Kuusankoski Paper Mill. Failures occurred almost immediately after start up and recurred after every trial and error maintenance-welding repair. Since process type is continuous flow and interruptions are not allowed.
Time schedule for planning and repairing was very tight and therefore it was not feasible to make field measurements for guiding and verifying recommendations based on calculations.
t
Therefore, FEA was chosen as the best available method for this case. Also other useful mechanical engineering methods were used.
One function of the original design was to measure liquid level of the feeding chamber, which was welded to the main shell, whose function was to contain the hazardous liquid without leaking. This caused recurred fractures and leakage of the main shell of the Bleaching Tower causing risk of the failure of the total Tower.
Due to lack of load measurements loads have to be modelled virtually by FE and analytical methods. Load magnitudes were estimated conservatively.
The innovation of the work was to re-define the function of the chamber so, that it was not used as intermediate storage of the fluid, but for conveying the fluid.
It seems that innovate concepts and advance calculations were found to be successful, because no failures occurred anymore after recommended repair plan.
